Q. What are the requirements for membership of the New Zealand Society of Naturopaths?
A. Applicants who wish to become members of the New Zealand Society of Naturopaths must be New Zealand residents. Those who have graduated as a Naturopath at the following New Zealand institutions automatically meet the requirements for membership:
South Pacific College of Natural Therapies
Naturopathic College of New Zealand Ltd
Wellpark College of Natural Therapies
Lotus Holistic Centre Ltd
Graduates from other colleges, including overseas practitioners, will need to show proof that they have completed the following curriculum hours.
Nutrition ... 300 hours
Anatomy and Physiology... 300 hours
Pathology ... 125 hours
Herbs/Homoeopathy ... 400 hours
Remedial Body Therapy ... 250 hours
Diagnostics ... 125 hours
Counselling ... 50 hours
Clinical Practice ... 200 hours
Biochemistry ... 100 hours
Pharmacological Drugs ... 100 hours
Law and Ethics ... 50 hours

Overseas practitioners practicing in New Zealand
If your naturopathic qualification is from an acceptable international college and you are residing and setting up practise in New Zealand you may apply to become a full member of NZSN.
Government Recognition
Legislation and policies relating to the regulation of natural health practitioners are currently under development in New Zealand.
Until legislation dictates otherwise, we encourage all students and graduates of Naturopathy in New Zealand to register with a professional body. For further benefits of belonging to NZSN see our 'about us' page. Your professional register is the New Zealand Society of Naturopaths Inc. (NZSN).
